Levels Class

The Levels Class is a flex-time/on-going group class teaching everything from basic manners to advanced concepts. It is open to dogs and puppies of all ages who meet minimum vaccination requirements. You can start at any time by attending the monthly orientation or by being a current client.

To move from one level to the next, handlers and dogs must meet all outlined criteria which will be covered in orientation. The orientation also teaches you the basics of training and how dogs learn. As you progress through the classes, your dog will learn basic obedience and manners, and will learn to respond through increasingly difficult distractions. The Levels Classes feature positive reinforcement and clicker training - fast learners are not held back and slower ones can take their time without pressure.

You can purchase 6 or 12 lessons in advance and use them up within 3-6 months. You will be required to RSVP to the lesson you choose to attend at least 2 days before to ensure that class is neither cancelled nor full (8 maximum in a class).

Price: Six-class-pass for $95 (to be used within three months) or Twelve-class-pass for $185 (to be used within six months). Advanced students are welcome to drop-in to lower Levels classes to practice, with a payment of $18/dog.

Schedule

  • All classes - Tuesday Nights.  7pm.  RSVP by Sunday

CGC/Therapy Dog

CGC - Started in 1989, CGC is a certification program that is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. The Canine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club.

THERAPY - A Therapy Dog must have an oustanding temperament. This means that the dog should be outgoing and friendly to all people; men, women, and children. The dog should be tolerant of other dogs (of both genders) and non-aggressive toward other pets. Before you consider having your dog evaluated, you should ask yourself if your dog has these qualities.

Ailigh is qualified to test your dog for the CGC and Love on a Leash.  Those interested in Delta or TDI will be prepared to take that test.

Email ailigh@animalia.us to enroll .  Classes will begin on March 9, 2011 at Barkalounge 5555 Elmwood Ave, Indianapolis, IN  46203

Reactive Dog Class

This class is designed for dogs who are reactive to dogs, people, or objects while on leash.  We will focus on desensitizing the dogs to their triggers, reducing anxiety, building coping skills, and improving behavior when in the presence of these triggers.  Since the leash holder often feels embarrassed and can make matters worse, we will also focus on increasing handler skills and confidence.

This is a four week class.  The first class will begin with dogs in the car or in the facility in a kennel/crate.  Some special equipment such as head halters will be required.  Due to the nature of this class, it is important that each week you work with your dog on the skills learned.  The questionnaire must be complete before attending the first night.

More information will be provided when you sign up for the class about length of class and materials required.

Email ailigh@animalia.us to enroll .  Classes will begin in January 12, 2011 at Barkalounge 5555 Elmwood Ave, Indianapolis, IN  46203

Private Training: Animalia offers private training to help you teach your dog.  This is tailored to your specific needs although group classes are always preferred so that your dog learns to work away from the home and with distractions.    Classes can be customized to your needs or can follow one of the following predefined classes

  • Puppy Class - Teach your new puppy the basics of survival in his new human household as well as working on basic training using a clicker (sit, stay, loose leash walking, come)
  • Basic training - Teach your dog basic life skills using the Clicker method (sit, stay, down, loose leash walking, etc.)
  • Obedience - Continue from the basic training class and teach your dog to heel, recall, fronts, finishes and other behavior you may need.
  • Handling - enables you to handle your dog's ears, paws, nails and body simply and easily. Save money by trimming nails at home, and make your vet and groomer love you!
  • House Training
  • Other problem areas as needed.

Private training available for single sessions, 4 week or 7 week sessions.  Charges are based on the needs of the client, but are usually $60/session.

We focus on practical behaviors; our classes are oriented as much toward your lifestyle at home as toward the competition ring.

Email ailigh@animalia.us to make an appointment.
