Russian Dwarf Hamster

Phodopus sungorus

Hamsters have cheek sacks which allow them to stuff large amounts of food in their cheeks.  This allows them to gather food quickly and take it to a safe place to eat it.  The less time spent in the open means the less chance you may become a snack yourself!
